Title: Solace
Fandom: Blackthorn & Grim
Rating: PG
Notes: prompt #57 "the end"

 Solace

He looks at the moon through the bars of his cell and tells her of the sun.

He does not speak of the rooster's call or the break of day, for both will herald her execution.

Instead, he talks of summer days--of warmth on her skin and wind in her hair. He cries and evokes a gurgling stream, cool water around her ankles, and bird song in the forest.

He speaks until his voice is raw, and his eyes are dry, and the moon disappears. Hoping that when they take her away, she will carry his words with her.

Title: Time
Fandom: A Little Chaos
Rating: G
Notes: Canonical Character Death

Time is steady.
It lulls you into complacency. Making you believe that each new day will be just like the one before. Not in its details, but in everything that matters.
Until you wake up, and he tells you that he has a mistress.

Time has an undertow.
It pulls you along like white water rapids.
Chasing after the carriage, heart racing, twigs pulling at your clothes. The crack of a broken wheel too loud on the wind.

Time can end.
Breath stalling in your lungs. Your daughter's cry ringing in your ears.
And the world disappears down the ravine.

Title: Telltale
Fandom: Lewis

Notes: Set post-series. Laura/Robbie, James/Robbie. I am indebted to Richard Siken's "The Worm King's Lullaby" from War of the Foxes.

There is no other end to this story.

Robbie telephones from New Zealand. He sounds uncertain, unhappy. James tamps down his own unhappiness. They are unhappy together. Still apart. Still together.

Laura, perfect Laura, sees the pining for what it is. She sets Robbie free. And gives him a good tongue lashing for being so incredibly stupid.

There is no other end to this story. It's Robbie on James' doorstep, his bags on the ground, his face buried in James' shoulder.

It's an embrace. A first kiss.

There is no other end to this story. There is only the beginning.

Title: Baby, You Can Drive My Car
Fandom: Person of Interest
Rating: General
Notes: Early in canon.
Summary: John learns more about Finch with every mission.

Finch likes luxury: shiny laptops, John's suit, the Bentley John's driving.

Finch would rather be behind the wheel: whenever John dances on the clutch and spins the car, Finch grimaces and holds the laptop steady. He can't drive and interfere with traffic signals, so John's got the car and all the silk-smooth acceleration.

Finch isn't precious; he thrusts his computer in front of John's face. The windshield shatters, the laptop takes three bullets and Finch throws it on the back seat.

"I'm afraid it's just us and our wits, Mr Reese."

Finch takes to teamwork like a duck to water.

Title: Call Me On and On
Fandom: Person of Interest
Rating: G
Notes: Mild spoilers for S5e07 QSO. Song title: Across the Universe
Summary: Root is sending a message to Shaw.

Root doesn't have much time. Whatever message she sends to Shaw has to be short, punchy, unidentifiable to Samaritan, and indisputably from Root. It has to be right and it has to be now. The universe has given Root this chance to make contact. Shaw needs to hear that she's not forgotten.

There's an agent at the studio door. Root taps out her message, remembering Shaw's lips in that last desperate kiss. She's sending Shaw's own words floating back to her. Root's a four-alarm fire in an oil refinery and nothing can stand in her way. She's getting Shaw back.

Title: A Different Kind of Harmony
Fandom: A Little Chaos
Rating: G
Notes: For [community profile] 100words , prompt #56 "song titles II"

In my hubris, I valued only perfection.

I sought it in straight lines and mirrored curves, in grand designs and minute details. One flower to compliment its cousin over there, rows of potted boxwood placed at precise intervals along the water cascades.

Then, you walked into my garden.

Placed a solitary lantern among the boxwood, strew globe thistles between the dahlias by the fountain, and added a dash of red blooms to my yellow roses.

Defiant

Yet, balanced.

Teaching me that what I truly sought was not perfection, but control, and that neither beauty nor love answer to either master.

Title: I'm So Tired
Fandom: Stardew Valley, Abigail & female Farmer
Rating: G
Notes: For [community profile] 100words Challenge #56, Beatles Song Titles

At midnight the farmer met Abigail at the graveyard, sitting by the fence.

"If anything happens, we'll see it!" Abigail watched the graves intently.

Digging in her knapsack, the farmer handed her a piece of blackberry cobbler.

"I love this! Seriously, you're the best!" Abigail ate it, happily licking her purple fingers and watching the graveyard for any movement.

Suddenly, there was a rasping noise, like a coffin opening. Abigail reached over to alert her friend, but the sound was her, snoring.

Abigail sighed. "You said you wake at six every morning, but I didn't believe anyone really did that."

Notes: For[community profile] 100words , prompt #55 Slow Burn

The battle lines are drawn. Neither of you started this feud. You were born into it; cannon fodder for your elders' vanity.

You stare at each other across that divide.

Montague. Capulet.

You stare, but you do not see, and every word is a double-edged sword.

Yet, one of you extends a hand, and you are both surprised when the other does not slap it away, but holds on tight.

Enemies to allies, and friends to...

Can trust be given, then broken, and still be rebuild?

Are you both strong enough to break without losing sight of who you are?
