There are many dark places. She knows. Other heroes know. Heroes like the members of Congress boycotting the inauguration. Like those heroes who march, ride, walk, and run through the streets of Washington D.C., who picket and hold signs proclaiming their allegiance not to this man, but to this country. Like those who call and write. Like those heroes who choose not to go quietly into the night, but to fight, and fight.
Love is now mingled with grief, Tolkien said. Let us grieve, for we must. But most of all let us love now, she thinks. Love. Love better.
