Set after my Study in Recuperation 'verse.

 

“Dr Watson, have you taken my hat?” Hopkins asked me one morning.

I took the hat off my head, which I admit felt slightly different.  “Sorry, Hopkins, here you are.”

We swapped hats and I was again surprised at Hopkins’ ability.  I was unable to spot the wrong hat without looking at it properly, I made a mental note to put my name inside, whilst Hopkins, although blind, had no problem at all.

I shouldn’t have been surprised.  The previous evening when we had had guests for dinner, I had watched him lay the table without making a single mistake.
