Title: Electric
Fandom: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (book, Jules Verne)
Rating: Gen
Notes: Electricity runs the Nautilus.
Captain Nemo called electricity the soul of his machines as it provided the Nautilus with heat and light and movement, in a word, life. I supposed he was being poetic, but I was mistaken. He went on to explain how he had harnessed the power of the sea to meet the needs of his vessel and crew, and I was awestruck. Later, when I was permitted to tour the Nautilus and observe its engineering aspects with my own eyes, I saw his theories brought to life, and I was forced to conclude that my host-captor was, indeed, a brilliant man.
