Warning: Misogyny.
In his last moments, Imhotep rued ever setting eyes on Princess Ankh-es-en-amon. Women, in every age and time, weren’t to be trusted. What had his devotion to Ankh-es-en-amon brought him? The horror of being buried alive. The sorrow of her treachery. The revenge of her protector Isis. And, now, dissolution! When he’d loved Ankh-es-en-amon, time had meant nothing. His love alone had sustained him, but, now, as he crumbled, returning to the dust from whence he’d come, he knew she, and his heart, were not be trusted and to love her had been like building a house on desert sand.
