He only ever noticed the quiet after he'd spent time at the spice shop.
Not that he particularly minded it. For one thing, quiet helped to center him in that calm, controlled place he'd come to rely on.
Anyway, there was never really true silence: mornings brought the soft susseration of the reformer's carriage as he worked through his pilates, and evenings often found the little house filled with the rich tones he pushed and pulled from his cello. And always, there was the ticking of clocks.
Maybe he could get Rosalee to try his vegetarian lasagna. Worth a shot...
