He finds his engineer standing atop the engine, reaching out to run fingertips along the bolted seam of the ceiling.
“They replaced the panelling.”
“So?”
“Replaced the panelling, not the turbine that scarred it.” Taps the toe of her boot against her perch with a muffled metallic clang. “TS-22. Cheap. Good for a skiff, maybe, but a jackwhip? Courting fuel choke. Fuel chokes, fan slips. Fan slips…” She turns to him then, curling her fingers close then flicking them out, sharp and wide. Rattle-bang-boom.
He sighs, regretfully unsurprised. “Good price.”
“For a coffin?” Eyebrow arches. “Cloth and airlock comes free.”
