Amy tried to teach young George about the past.  But it was hard knowing what to tell him, and what to leave out.  She wanted him to know how brave his father had been, but without going into the details.  Ogilvy helped by teaching George about the present, and the way they were seeking to grow more plants and encouraging him to learn about science.  But Amy wanted her son to know that there was more to life than science, and that caring for those around him also had its place.  Otherwise they would be back where they had been.
