“Try this,” Lucas North said to Jo Portman.  He took a small piece of paper, coloured one side black and then folded it up to form a cube, with the black sides innermost.

 

“What is it?” Jo asked.

 

“It’s a box of darkness.  When things crowd into your head write them on slips of paper and place them into your box.  Then  you tell yourself the thoughts are in the dark, so you can’t see them.  It may not work, but it’s worth a try.”

“That’s a great idea.  Thank you very much, Lucas.  I shall definitely try it out.”
