Notes: I'm completely new to Dreamwidth—I apologize in advance if I get this wrong!

The ideas burned in him like fever: new furies, new countries, new monsters to kill in all the old ways. We would burn this place down and build a new one from the ashes—ashes (he told me) could be used to make cement. Could be used to clean glass til it shone. It burned in him, burned in all of us—

Burned like fever. And broke like fever too, passing from one moment to the next from haze to dizzy clarity. When you wake to sweat and memory, knowing now what it feels like to be able to be warm.

Thanks! I was genuinely worried about that--I almost left out the subject but I was scanning the how-to bit pretty fiercely and I caught it, so ha. :)

I'm not entirely sure either, to be honest; it's just that earlier today I was reading a poem which included a line about something (I can't remember what exactly, it may have been an idea, it may have been love) burning in someone like a fever, and having had a fever recently I was struck by the idea that if something burns like a fever that also means it's going to break like one; and in my experience at least it is a pretty abrupt change. So then when I saw the prompt here, well, I had to, you know?
