"Oh!" Flayn exclaimed as she unwrapped the small gift that Dedue had handed her when she came for the day's lesson. Inside was a bottle of spice that she instantly recognized. "But had you said this was difficult to acquire?"
"A traveling merchant had it with her," Dedue explained, his expression softening.
"My cooking is not yet worthy of it," Flayn declared, beginning to re-wrap it. "I shall save it until--"
"Do not do that," Dedue interjected. "It will lose its flavor. It is best to enjoy it now."
Flayn paused then nodded, smiling wide.
"Like so many other things."
