“I had no idea how dangerous she would be, she seemed so nice,” the young woman sobbed.

Miss Marple nodded.  “It is not necessarily the person who appears dangerous who poses the greatest threat.  Someone who seems dangerous can be avoided, but the kind, friendly person who draws you in is far worse, and the damage they do is far greater, for it goes much deeper than that of someone one instinctively avoids.  For they also destroy one’s trust in other people entirely.”

“You sound as though you speak from experience.”

“Oh yes, I’ve known too many people like that.”
