“I thought Furies came in threes,” said the young lady in the high street tea shop. “You two have been following me since Harrod’s. Why?”
Jane Marple looked at Dolly Bantry. Dolly Bantry looked at Jane Marple.
“The young man you were with,” began Dolly.
“Gregory?”
“He means to do away with you,” finished Jane.
“How dare you! He’s my fiancé!”
“We saw the accident in the shop,” said Dolly.
“You were lucky the clerk was quick on his feet,” said Jane.
“Gregory slipped! It could happen to anyone!”
“We didn’t slip, and not to warn you would be…”
“…criminal.”
