[Amnesty: Challenge #238: Legend] Original Fiction: 'The Machine'
Title: 'The Machine'
Fandom: Original Fiction
Rating: G
Somewhere far underground, locked away in a heavily-guarded cell, is a strange machine.
Nobody knows just what the machine does, or why it's being kept locked away in there. Legend has it, around the facility, that the machine is deadly. That it took at least seventeen lives one day, for no apparent reason. And without even moving, flashing, or making any noise.
Of course, it could be idle gossip. But nobody is willing to take any chances.
So the machine sits in its cell, doing not much of anything in particular.
Some say that it's just biding its time.
