"Mrs Hudson, Esme, what are you doing?” I asked when I entered our rooms.  The two ladies were lifting and replacing the cushions, rugs, and various other items.

“Hunt the thimble,” Mrs Hudson snapped.  “But it isn’t a game.”

“And there’s no music,” Esme added.  She moved the tablecloth and sneezed violently.  “What was that?”

“Better not to know,” Mrs Hudson replied.  “My thimble was out on my table.  I turn my back for five minutes and it’s disappeared.  And no, it hadn’t fallen on the floor, before you ask.”

“I’ll take a look in Holmes’ bedroom,” I said hurriedly.
