Summary: Pippin feels nervous as they spend the night in Moria.
The night passes slowly. Pippin wishes with all his heart that he didn’t toss that stone into the well and annoy Gandalf into giving him the first watch. Though how is he supposed to watch, really, in the pitch dark? Anything could be sneaking up on them and he wouldn’t see it. At the thought, he quickly glances behind him again to where the gaping mouth of the well must be.
Pippin shivers, thinking of Bilbo’s stories. What if a giant spider is lurking down in that well, like a normal-sized spider in a drainpipe? If only there were daylight!
