Summary: Six months before he will meet Nathaniel Steepleton, Keita leaves him a gold watch for his birthday.


Keita Mori climbed the three flights of stairs to Thaniel’s room in the boarding house. Thaniel wasn’t home yet, of course. Keita cast a critical eye over the plain room, the unwashed dishes on the stove. It would be better when Thaniel was living with him. Soon; six months was soon.

He placed the box containing the gold pocket watch carefully on Thaniel’s bed. He would come back in two months, to set the alarm that would save Thaniel’s life.

He had enough time before Thaniel returned. Keita heated water on the stove and washed the dishes before he left.
