The skirts of the women in the village square form an ever-changing rainbow in greens and blues and reds as they dance and spin with their partners, the sounds of laughter floating on the summer breeze. The music is high and joyous, some celebration or other in this small village.
“Come on,” Lisee says pleadingly, tugging at Werblund’s wrist. “I know you can dance. Just for a bit? Please?”
Werblund resists for a moment longer. Then, with a heavy sigh, he shrugs his swords off, stows them under a nearby bush, and allows himself to be dragged into the crowd.
