Spike moved across Sunnydale with experienced stealth; more often than not he was one for immediate action, consequences be damned, but not this time.
His revenge had to be perfect, exemplary. He couldn’t afford any missteps, like letting the Slayer find out that he was back in town. It didn’t take long to intercept her during patrol, but he was watching her from a safe distance, so that her senses wouldn’t pick up his presence.
He hated to hide and wait, but he couldn’t fail again. Just give him some time to strategize and there would be no more Buffy.
