Buffy dropped her Cosmo magazine, turning a puzzled look on Spike. “Is the world ending out of season? May is far behind us.”
“What?”
“You offered to go to the mall. Usually I have to drag you there,” she observed. “It’s either the end of the world or a severe concussion.”
“Need I remind you that your niece scribbled all over the nursery walls? I need paint.”
“Our niece,” she corrected. “Dawn says she’s going through an artistic phase.”
“Let’s get some canvas so she’ll keep her toddler art off our bloody walls.”
