“Remind me again why we’re hosting a surprise birthday party for Joyce at our place?” asked Spike, inflating a foil balloon with a hand pump.
Buffy sealed a party favor bag and moved on to the next. “Because she’s very curious and Dawn couldn’t get anything ready with her constantly snooping around.”
“That’s what we get for accepting to be her godparents,” he grumbled, inflating another balloon.
She smirked. “Says the guy who got all emotional when we went to pick Joyce’s present.”
“Hey, it’s her first bike! That’s a big deal.”
“I know. She’s growing up so fast, huh?”
