The gifts have all been unwrapped, amid expressions of excitement and glee. A wonderful feast has been enjoyed.
Now, the tree stands alone, its warm and welcoming glow not diminished by the lack of presents beneath its boughs.
Another Christmas holiday has come, and is slowly fading into the past. Soon, ordinary life will resume.
But, for now, the contentment remains. The memories that were created will last, to be treasured for years to come. Recollections of warmth and love, laughter and song.
And December's joy will come around once again.
Christmas never truly fades away from a happy heart.
