"Right." Hands on his hips, the Doctor gave the smoking console panel a final look over. He'd tried everything: he'd rerouted power, replaced those parts that were badly melted, recalibrated the systems, checked over every circuit one by one. He'd tried pleading, when none of that did any good. Nothing doing.

"Right." That was it, then. With a huff, he picked up his screwdriver and slipped it into his pocket. He'd simply have to find another way to fix it. The planet was inhabited—they must have some kind of mechanic. Surely. Hopefully.
He snagged his cloak from the hatstand.
