Rawdon Crawley watched as the candle flame flickered.  He knew he had not much longer to live, the yellow fever had taken hold.  His mind wandered to his beloved Becky and he longed to see her one last time; he would forgive her anything just to enjoy a few more precious moments.  His son he consigned to the care of his brother; the boy being the one good thing to have come out of his life.  He lay back, his mind clouding over, his life spent, regrets and pleasure mingling together until they ceased completely.  The candle flame blew out.
