From his perch atop the bleak mountain overlooking the storm-tossed waves, Magus watched an entire civilisation crumble to dust and fall into the ocean, its history to be forgotten, its dreams to fail.
He had attempted to end this. If he could rewrite time, he figured, his sister might never have gone. Respected a prophet though he was, the Queen refused to change her plan. Maybe it was futile. The thing he had vowed to fight could happily lurk beyond time.
He turned to face the intruders and drew his scythe. He was not in the mood to entertain guests.
