“Sorry?” asked Mycroft in a tone that would have been considered nonchalant by any person but the one she was addressing.
“Lestrade used to fancy you, now she doesn’t. You’ve no rival, so you must’ve done something to put her off. Inevitable, I suppose. Why don’t you try wearing the heather grey mixture? It’s her favourite, though why I can’t fathom. I much prefer the black. Shows you to be the soulless undertaker that you really are. John.”
Sherlock breezed off.
John shrugged. “I could ask Greg, you know, what the dealio is.”
Mycroft made to protest but said,
“Please.”
