Rice Boy woke up one morning expecting a visit from his friend The One Electronic. He had put the kettle on before he realized his mistake.

“Oh,” said Rice Boy. “Oh, no.” He went to his yard and paced, upset.

Fortunately, his friend Gerund was nearby. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Nothing, I just woke up thinking TOE was still here.”

“Oh,” said Gerund. “Want to talk?”

Rice Boy nodded, lying down. “Do you think there is still some of him left, somewhere?”

“Well, he lived for an awfully long time. Maybe it doesn’t matter, so much.”

“Maybe,” said Rice Boy.
