Notes: Light brings fire.

The sky is burning. 

 

Her brush captures fire and regret, the fleeting mercy of a swift blade, tender decapitations. The last strokes of the rebellion, fallen charred blackened, embers and ash. 

 

"Oblivion," croons the horror, making landfall on her last guard phalanx. Unholy writs break on its wings; screaming lances shatter against its raiment, blessed and shining.  

 

"Yield. Submit," it sings to her. "Betrayer. Heretic."

 

"Never," she says. But calmly, and pricks its heart with a drop of blasphemy as it martyrs her. 

 

She will return in time, on holy wings, and the firmament too will burn, embers and ash.
