She closed her eyes against the silent tears that streamed down her face. His beautiful, brown eyes were full of love as he reached out and softly cupped her cheek. She leaned into his touch; his lips pressed gently against hers.

Nothing would ever erase the pain of both their pasts, but there was still something calming and healing, even rejuvenating, about his kiss. Her eyes opened again, and this time, as always when he touched her, she was smiling. “I love you,” she whispered.

“I love you too,” he whispered back. He kissed her again, and she believed him.
