Title: Blind
Fandom: The Hobbit [film,2014]
Rating: Gen
Notes: A grieving-the-death-of-Thorin Bilbo finds a blind kitten.
Bilbo was startled out of his melancholy reverie by a mewl.
Unsure, he listened.
There it was again.
Bilbo followed the sound, and for the first time since his return, the grief that gripped him slackened.
He forgot himself completely when he found it in the shrubbery.
Poor thing.
It was little more than a bony, whining mass of dark, matted fur.
“Hello, I’m Bilbo.”
When it made to lift its head, Bilbo saw the slits where eyes had been.
“Don’t worry. I’ve got you.”
Bringing the creature to his beating heart, Bilbo whispered,
“And I shall call you ‘Balm.’”

Date: 2019-06-12 06:19 pm (UTC)I was trying to reach 50 fandoms by the end of May and I didn't have the time or energy to consume something new and I was scratching my head and I was looking at my AO3 inbox and I almost smacked my head like a cartoon (or maybe a lightbulb went on overhead!) and I said "The Hobbit!" And so I skimmed all 40+ (!) of your works (just title and summary of the AUs) and then got my bearings and went to look for prompts. So definitely inspired by you start to finish.
