Notes: Biggles reflects as he speeds across enemy lines.


Biggles, with Algy at his right tip, raced his Camel through the archie over the line and sped on into enemy country. He knew the war would one day be over and men like him would become the stuff of stories and statues.

But stories faded, statues rusted.

The only thing that never faded, and would never fade, was the certainty that Biggles felt, like a stone in his chest, that he was where he was meant to be, in the air in his Camel, and that he was what he was meant to be, a protector of the skies.
