“We didn’t tell you, because it wasn’t a birthday, more an unbirthday,” Mouselet explained.
“If it wasn’t a birthday it must have been an anniversary,” the Ferret replied. “And therefore worthy of a verse.”
“Oh dear,” muttered Mouselet. “We were rather hoping to avoid that.”
If you have an anniversary
To not celebrate would be quite contrary
So have a scone and some jam
Or toast and marmelam
With best wishes for your anniversary
“Marmelam?” queried Mouselet.
“It rhymes.” The Ferret shrugged his furry shoulders. “As Dr Watson says, it’s the thought that counts.”
“I suppose she’ll appreciate the thought.”
