They said that Laird was nothing but Leon's lapdog, and content to be always in the shadow of another, that maybe there was something else going on between them.
Laird did not see was was supposed to be so lowly about his position. He was General of a respected order of Knights, second only to a man revered as a hero, himself second only to the Emperor in renown.
It was true, however, that he valued the unique position he held, to remain so close to the most important person in his life.
