It had taken some time, but Holmes was satisfied he had trailed Johnson to his hideout in one of the less salubrious parts of Limehouse.  All that remained was to entice him out, for it would be too risky for us to go in.

I was not happy with Holmes’ plan of using himself as the bait, but when he explained it more fully, I agreed to go along with it.  To my surprise, Johnson was completely fooled by the sight of Holmes’ famous deerstalker and failed to realise it was atop the Irregulars’ guy, thus falling into the trap.
