Bëor forgets sometimes that he is mortal.

Most of the time the knowledge lurks in the back of his mind, taunting him with the knowledge that sooner rather than later, he will be forced to leave Finrod.

But some nights Finrod smiles softly while they are drinking wine in their rooms. He pours a second glass of wine for them both, which they drink slower than the first unless the winter winds chill them.

Finrod leans over, pressing kisses against Bëor's cheeks and lips until they collapse onto the couch.

And between the first kiss and the second, Bëor forgets.
