These conduit people, these advertisers, they, too, want something more in their lives. Things they imagine could happen but bafflingly, never do.

Draper could be a good husband; Joan will one day be listened to; Campbell will be looked up to, be the leader he is.

Madison Avenue sells dreams, but not every secret wish comes true.
