"Do you have a dream?"
The question made him pause. His initial response to the question would be to snap 'haven't I done enough already?' but he couldn't be rude to his dad.
Besides, the answer was: nobody on the planet knew what he'd been through except maybe the animals who weren't talking any more. Nobody knew why he cried tears of joy and relief at seeing his dad alive and well, either.
"It's okay if you need a while to decide what you want to do with your life. I did, too, at your age."
His son hugged him.
