Quietly he stroked Roche’s hair as he held the cloth to his neck, listening to his shallow breaths as he pressed his face deep into his lap. He was ragged and dirty; Stinking of swamp mud and rotted foliage. Yet again, his newly appointed Commander had impressed him. Racing to his position with three arrows in his back and a wicked cut behind his ear, running on pure adrenaline.
Only when he told him to sit did he utterly collapse, his body succumbing to the war it had endured. But he did his duty.
He checked the cloth; Bloodsoaked still.
