Lucas darted behind a boulder, pulling the dog behind him and praying that Boney wouldn't randomly bark and alert the angry bouncer who was still searching for them. He'd thought his dog was smart but then the silly mutt had broken character and given the security guard a paw to shake on request.
Who was he kidding? He kicked himself. He was the one who had tried to disguise himself and his dog as a tall, hairy adult by holding Boney over his head inside a large trenchcoat. It had been childish. He couldn't afford to be childish any more.
