Ayla had bet on the small yellow cat to win the race. While Reptites were fast, nothing outran a cat in the jungle. The other two she dismissed out of hand. They both looked they were wearing heavy clothes.

Ayla was curious as to why Reptites had survived - maybe there were other tribes who had hidden away during Azala's fall? She was amused that, millions of years into the future, most humans still obsessed over shiny rocks all the time.

They had candyfloss, though, so they were clearly the superior civilisation, she'd decided by the end of the night.
