“Get some sleep,” Adam said.  “You’ve done all you could do, and you’re tired, battered and bruised.”

Lucas looked at him with eyes full of pain and misery.

“You have taken some painkillers, haven’t you?”

Lucas didn’t reply.

Adam sighed.  “I’ll go and get you some.”  He departed and returned with a bottle of tablets, a glass of water and his phone.  “I’ll stay for a while,” he said.

Lucas curled up and Adam read through his messages.  After a while, he decided he might as well lie down too, so put his arms around Lucas and quickly fell asleep.
