It wasn’t about crowns, graces, or blood. Neither was it about flattery for land, titles, or orens. The naked truth was that part of him thawed at being treated human. Foltest didn’t flinch at his sight nor did he punish him for his stupidity. He laughed off his ignorance and stood by his side as if they could ever be equals. There was no disdain in the way he treated him.
A whore’s son. A bastard. A beaten beggar.
It was the reason why he let his blade sink into so much flesh. Foltest was different. He actually ploughing cared.
