Before we moved to Sussex, Holmes would become fretful if he had too long between cases.  Now he is much more amenable to the quiet life.  It is one of our great pleasures, as the summer draws to a close, to sit in the garden of an afternoon, making the most of the sunshine and dozing on the garden bench, until finally one of us will stand up, and stretch slightly, before suggesting we go inside.  There we will partake of a cold supper, before repairing to our sitting room to read for a while, before retiring to our bed.

Sounds like a lovely life. Sooner or later, we all must slow down, even Sherlock Holmes. There is something to be said for the quiet life, and those who get to live it are blessed.
