A pulse of static and white noise in his head blinded Chaz. For a second he thought he was getting a migraine. Then the pain cleared a second later and he found himself surrounded by silence and darkness. The other four were gone. He didn't remember walking ahead of the party but now he couldn't even hear their chatter. Neither could he hear the powerful gales outside or the strange chittering and howling of the tower's unearthly denizens.
He couldn't see the doorway of the chamber he'd entered any more.
A swirling flame flickered into existence with one glowing eye.
