In the past, whatever he felt and thought went unsaid. The armor trapped every expression and kept him safely blank. Illegible.
He doesn't know what to write. The cipher keys and a burner tablet are waiting, but he's just staring ahead.
In person, he says what he means, aloud, with touch, or both. But when they're apart like this, he's stymied and stoppered-up. Nerve-wracked.
Whatever he writes could outlast him. Words stop time.
He's making history.
He rubs his neck and breathes deeply.
He starts with the truth.
