The snow, which had lain for almost a week, was just starting to thaw, and I was looking forward to being able to go out again.  For a few days everywhere had looked so pretty, but continued footprints and cart tracks had rendered much of the snow less pristine, which would have been of less concern if I could have added my own footprints to the mix.  But I was forced to remain indoors for fear of falling and was tiring of the view.  Now, with the thaw, I would be out and about very soon, thus raising my spirits.

Yes, pretty for the first few days, but then Watson wants to get out and about again!
