Notes: I wrote a Beauty and the Beast retelling many years ago. This is after the end of it.
"Are you well enough to walk?" he asked, looking down at me.
I stared into his eyes, the only part of him that was still familiar to me. "I don't know your name," I said suddenly.
"Rose..."
"It's funny, I've spent the last three months feeling like I was living a fairy tale, and it turns out that I was. The princes never have names in the stories."
"Call me whatever you like, love," he said. "I don't actually remember my name, if I'm being honest."
"Really?"
"Really. Call me what you like, and that'll be the end of it."
