Thunder rumbled in the distance as Gai took a long drag from his cigarette. The porch of the beach-house they'd been loaned was covered well enough that he hadn't gotten wet and the cool air after the hot Orb day felt good.
Kazahana had gone out to stand in the rain; it was still novel enough to her. And Elijah had followed, mildly red-faced, but Gai understood. Best to take some experiences when they presented themselves.
If the storm grew worse, though--
"Hey, Gai, got a message..." Reed's voice echoed from inside.
Gai stubbed out his cigarette.
Back to work.
