“He’s delirious,” the doctor warned. "An adverse reaction.”
Wei Wuxian shoved past. “I don’t care!”
The room stank, sweat and bitter herbs. Huddled in the corner, Sandu Shengshou curled up on himself, sobbing like an abandoned baby.
“Jiang Cheng?” Wei Wuxian whispered, kneeling. He reached out. “Shidi. A-Xian is here.”
Jiang Cheng looked up, eyes wide and innocent. He saw Wei Wuxian and screamed, terror-stricken. He wrapped his arms over his head, howling. "Don't hurt me again, don’t cut me open, I’ll be good.”
“A-Cheng.”
“Wei Wuxian never calls me that. He hates me! You’re an imposter!”
