Notes: Jin Ling is Jiang Cheng's nephew. 'Jiujiu' means 'mother's brother'. One of the many words for uncle.
Jin Ling shoved Wei Wuxian aside, going to his knees in front of the cowering Jiang Cheng. “Jiujiu?”
“Get away from me! Get away!”
“A-Ling,” Wei Wuxian warned, “He doesn’t know us.”
Jin Ling scowled over his shoulder. “He doesn’t know you because you abandoned him!” Then he turned back to Jiang Cheng and began to sing.
It was an old lullaby. Soft, sweet, repetitive; Wei Wuxian remembered Jiang Yanli singing the same song after a nightmare or a tumble when they were all children.
He found himself on the floor, crying, as his nephew did what he couldn’t.
